Overview

K. Aage Nielsen and Paul Luke were long term collaborators; working together as designer and builder respectively, producing over 20 stunning sailing yachts that were built to a standard that was difficult to achieve.  After 57 years of thoughtful care such were Nielsen's design and specification skills and Luke's building skills that TAYGETA has not warranted any notable rebuild work though three or four nominal repairs/replacements have been made.  As testimony to her sailing prowess she won the Halifax Race in '91 and innumerable local series out of Marblehead as well several NYYC Cruise races over the years!

She has been repowered and given sail and electronics upgrades and for those who can appreciate a classic of renowned design and build she represents an incredible opportunity.  Please read the full specs for details. A full structural survey is being completed by noted wood boat surveyor, Paul Haley, of Capt. G. W. Full & Associates.

The decks are believed to be 1 1/4" teak and are fastend on 1 1/4" X 1 3/4 white oak deck beams again with bronze fastenings.  The decks had their seams reefed out and all deck seams re-caulked with fresh thiokol in 2014.

Typical of the day, she has a cockpit with forward helm with the thought that when racing the helmsman was not distracted by sail trimmers in their line of sight and was close enough to the dodger to be afforded better protection but still capable of seating 4+ comfortably.  Generous sail lockers are port and starboard and lazarette aft.
