Having gone through a complete refit in 2001-02 by Strouts Point Wharf Company that included all systems, every inch of interior and exterior finish on this stunning Hinckley 41 is three to four decades newer than her build year implies.  Some of the work is notably newer than that, e.g., the entire waste system was replaced in 2012, including the tank.

These lovely sloops outperform the arguably better known "little sister" B-40, yet still maintain the lovely classic lines that made the Hinckley company famous!

Vessel Walk Thru

The Hinckley 41 Classic accommodates up to six in a traditional Herreshoff-style interior (white flat panels with varnished mahogany trim), with a varnished teak and holly sole.  Headroom is approximately 6'-2" aft to 5'-11" forward.  There is an abundance of natural light and ventilation with four large and six smaller fixed ports, two oversized hatches and two large dorades.  A Luke Soapstone solid fuel stove takes the chill off on foggy mornings or extends the cruising season.

The private Forward Cabin features a 6'-6" V-berth with filler.  Above the berth the hull is lined with varnished teak ceilings and there are full length storage shelves with fiddles. Below the berth there are four drawers with additional top access storage forward.  Aft of the berth to port is a bureau, and to starboard is a hanging locker. 

Next aft is a second large locker to starboard. To port is the enclosed Head, featuring a Lavac manual vacuum flush head plumbed via a Y-valve to the holding tank, vanity with stainless sink, including H&C pressure water with "telephone-style" fixture, providing an ensuite shower.  Storage is available in four lockers.

The Main Salon has 6'-4" settees to P&S, with drawers and pilot berths making up the back rest, with additional drawers below.  Above the berths are varnished teak "ceilings"  and a storage shelf with fiddle.  Dining is from a table that folds down from the forward bulkhead.

The Galley is furthest aft. It splits the companionway with a very large ice box to starboard, the top of which doubles as the chart table. Storage is available in lockers above and outboard, and as Hinckley defined it, in a wet locker aft. To port is an L- shaped configuration with a Shipmate three-burner gimballed propane stove with oven, single basin stainless sink with H&C pressure water and manual cold water with additional storage in lockers above, outboard and aft.

On deck the Hinckley 41 offers an expansive Cockpit measuring 8'-8'' in length (one can sleep under the stars if one so desires!) with large sail lockers P&S and custom locker aft of the wheel (which is dead space on other 41s). Also included are wide side decks with double stainless steel stanchions and lifelines with gates lead, fore and aft.

Sails & Rigging

Offshore Spars tapered single spreader mast new 1996with all new standing rigging 1996, the mast was re-awlgripped in 2008. This tapered extrusion (lighter than the original mast) has provided a notable improvement in performance relative to other Hinckley 41 Classics.

Wired for both 12 Volt DC and 110 Volt AC Service.  All primary wiring from engine to batteries thence to switch panels and the switch panels themselves was new as part of the 2001-2002 refit.  Also, all fixtures were new as part of that refit.  All 110 Volt system was new in 2001-2002.

Westerbeke 44A 40 HP fresh water cooled diesel turns a three-bladed "sailor style" (max pitch/low drag) propeller on a 7/8" shaft through a ZF 2.5:1 reduction gear.  The entire drive train and engine beds were new in the 2001/2002 refit.

Hull & Deck

Solid Fiberglass hull and deck with Awlgrip finish.  All surfaces including all brightwork were stripped and refinished as part of the 2001-2002 refit.  The bottom was also stripped, and the barrier was coated and finished with red multi-season ablative paint. As with virtually all of the Hinckley's, this 41 is attractively trimmed out with varnished teak toe rails, brows, hatch frames and other trim pieces.  The varnish work has been maintained to the highest standards.  As part of the refit the following teak work was replaced in 2001-2002: bows, dorade boxes, and all mounting blocks.

A new rudder was fabricated for the boat in 2002 using better construction methodology than the original.

This Hinckley 41 was purchased off the Canadian side of the Great Lakes in 2001 and brought to Strouts Point Wharf Company in South Freeport, Maine by her current owner who did a complete restoration.  Any repairs required were done, all new systems were installed right down to the engine beds. All primary wiring, switch panels, and fixtures were replaced. Every surface was refinished, and new primary winches new steering pedestal were installed. These updates have made this Hinckley 41 a new boat, essentially, in a 1967 hull & deck save for the distribution wiring in the 12 Volt system!

The clock and barometer (a gift to the owner over 40 years ago) and chess board (South Freeport historical piece) inlaid in the dining table are specifically excluded.
