Overview

If there is yacht level maintained J/105 out there this is it.  As a listing broker I have owned 2 sisterships and have been on at least 50-60 other J/105s over the years and this is the nicest of all of them.  Optimized for single handing with a 2nd set of sheet winches aft by the helm and with a Tides Track for the main.  Other cruisey features include 110 Volt electrical system, below decks linear drive autopilot and many other nice features that would make her ideal as a family day sailor, but she is so nice that the serious racer would do well to buy her and tweak her to be the best of the race course.  Awlgripped in 2010 and not a mark on it!  Sail Magazines "Boat of the Year" when introduced in 1992!

Descriptions

Vessel Walk Thru

Early evaluators of the J/105 called her a "Magical Sail Boat."  They are incredibly easy to sail and while offering spirited performance it is an easily managed spirited performance.  Her large cockpit makes it pleasant to take a good sized group out for a day sail and the wide ranging popularity has made the design one of the most popular class race boats ever!

Accommodations:  Starting forward is a V-berth with storage under followed by Head to Port with manual W.C. plumbed to the holding tank and manual fresh water sink.  Opposite is a hanging locker.  The Main Cabin, next aft, features straight settees P&S with tankage and some storage under and storage outboard.  Forward is the Nav. Station to Port with flip top chart table while to starboard is the galley with single burner alcohol stove, stainless sink with manual fresh water, and storage.  Chilled food stuffs and beverages are kept in a 54 quart cooler that stows behind the companionway ladder.  Headroom below is 5'-4", 2 opening hatches and 4 opening ports.  Of note, the owner has varnished all teak trim below vs. the standard oiled teak trim finish.

With the focus on sailing the generous cockpit has 6'-6" bench seats P&S with voluminous sail lockers below.  Edson pedestal steering.  Wide side decks lead fore and aft with double stainless steel lifelines, stanchions and bow rail and stern rails.  There is a centerline gate at the transom.

GRAY GHOST is for sale by her original owner who purchased her and used her 6-7 months a year on Chesapeake Bay through the fall of 2009 when he moved her north to his summer home in Maine, where she has been launched in mid-June and hauled and stored inside in mid September each year.  She was not launched in 2015 and was only sailed approximately 10 times in 2016 and 2017.  Throughout she has been beautifully maintained and as described in the early write-up if one were to classify any of the J/105s as a yacht this would be the one!

The listing broker has owned two different J/105s (#200 and #442) and I have been onboard another at least 5050-60 others in the process of selling boats.  GRAY GHOST is in the nicest condition of any of them!
