Overview

"The Z36 has a timeless appearance that won’t go out of style and will hold its value. But don’t let her handsome lines fool you - this is a workboat hull, shaped by the demands of commercial fishing and proven over decades of time." ~ Zimmerman Marine

Mystic Rose's hull was built by Atlantic Boat Company on the BHM 36 hull lines and the interior was finished off by Zimmerman Marine to the Z36 specifications. These are well respected boats that put an emphasis on safe and comfortable cruising. While Mystic Rose has some damage history she is well founded and should survey well.

Descriptions

Zimmerman Z36
"True Downeast boats trace their legendary performance to a long line of Ocean-proven workboats dating back hundreds of years. For generations, Maine fisherman have relied on these rugged boats to take them to sea, function as stable, dependable work platforms, and bring them home safely, burdened with the trip's catch in weather most of us wouldn't venture out in.

The full keel means that she tracks well and steers easily at all speeds. A keg protects the shaft and propeller, so you can explore shallow inlets without fear of damaging the running gear if you go aground.

Designed by Spencer Lincoln, one of the best lobster boat designers, this hull features a fine entry that produces a soft ride, even in rough conditions...

The Downeast hull form performs at its best in the 15 to 20 knot range - an ideal speed for a coastal cruiser." ~ Zimmerman Z36 Brochure

Interior Accommodations
"To be comfortable for extended cruises, an interior must address two needs: first, comfort and functionality when underway; second, space in which to relax and "live" when anchored or dockside.

Underway the Z36 fulfills a requirement that seems obvious, but surprisingly rare - Comfortable seating, facing forward, for two people. We use fully adjustable Stidd chairs for maximum comfort while running the boat. In the evening these chairs can be lowered and turned to face into the cabin, providing two additional seats when guests visit. Both stations offer excellent 360 degree visibility.

Once the day run has ended, your vessel must become a home. On express or picnic style boats that means "going below" or zipping up curtains and plastic to convert the helm area to a living area. On the Z36, however, no changes or compromises are needed. The main cabin has a living room feeling, with features like a recliner, book case/entertainment center, cherry joinery, and a maple sole. From the comfort of your chair, you can enjoy the scenery through 360 degrees at eye level." ~ Zimmermann Z36 Brochure

Entering the pilot salon on Mystic Rose you are immediately drawn to the exception visibility, intelligent design and attention to details. With dome lighting overhead, bright teak handrails running port and starboard of the centerline overhead, opening slide windows port starboard and aft and carpeted sole you get immediately that this boat was designed to be safe, functional and comfortable.      "Keeping the galley out of the main cabin preserves the living room feeling. Some will argue against a galley "down", with good reason. Most down galleys feel too closed in, and the cook feels cut off from the view and from the helmsman guests. The Z36 is a hybrid, the galley is "down" out of the main cabin, but it is open above with abundant light and air. A person in the galley can talk to the helmsman face to face and join in a conversation with guests. A large opening porthole at eye level gives a view of the water."  ~ Zimmermann Z36 Brochure
