Hollister grew up on the coast of Maine and very quickly learned about her love for the water. Through all of her adventures and milestones she has yet to leave the ocean. She holds her 1600 ton captain’s license and brings a unique perspective from her maritime background to ECYS.
Hollister started her passion for sailing at a young age growing up racing at the Portland Yacht Club in Falmouth, Maine. Where she was an avid racer in the junior sailing programs, she then raced for Falmouth High School at Sail Maine. She continued racing in college for Maine Maritime Academy, starting on the dingy team and moving to the offshore team. She spent many weekends racing at the US Naval Academy competing on Navy 44's, every year she competed in the Storm Trysail Club/Larchmont Intercollegiate Regatta in the J-44 class and many of her spring breaks were spent at the LA Harbor Cup racing on Catalina 37’s. Her brother got her into match racing at Oakcliff Sailing Center in Oyster Bay, New York, bringing her down to crew for him in many of the Swedish Match 40 events. In 2014 she crewed for Stephanie Roble where she helped win the US Women’s Match Racing Championship title. Sailing was where it all started for Hollister and she continues to get out and race when time and opportunity allow.
Hollister attended Maine Maritime Academy and graduated with a bachelor of science in marine transportation, an associates degree in business and a 1600 ton mates license. She took a job with G&H Towing moving to Houston, Texas to work in one of the busiest ports in the United States. She started working on conventional twin screw tugs and while there shifted to working on Z-drive tugboats. After a year she took her experience and started working for Moran Towing in Miami, Florida. Starting as a mate she worked very hard at gaining experience and management skills to be promoted to a captains position. By the age of twenty-six Hollister was the captain of a 6000 horsepower Z-drive tugboat, making her one of Moran’s youngest captains.
Hollister, after spending the last five years on tugboats, now lives in Falmouth, Maine with her husband. They are members of both Portland Yacht Club and Harraseeket Yacht Club. She is excited to be bringing her love for the water coupled with her experience on tugboats to ECYS as the service manager.
