Description
Luxurious deck salon yacht built by the French quality shipyard Waiquiez International (design: Berret/Racoupeau). The Pilot Saloon 40 has a bright, cozy cabin with elevated saloon offering 360 degree panoramic views from dinette. Although called Pilot Saloon 40, it's actually a Deck Salon style, 41.6 foot yacht that is a well made, strong, performance cruiser. These are close winded, good sailing boats - the base PHRF rating of 108 means few true cruisers will keep up. This particular model is the highly desirable (difficult to find) Solent (twin headstay) rig... a Swiss army knife rig allowing you to switch gears from genoa to a 100% self-tacking (Solent) blade as conditions/wind angle change. The full-batten/triple reef main is both reliable, durable and adds some roach sail area. With its MackPack zippered bag and electric cabin top winch, you can be sailing in minutes. This is an incredibly comfortable, capable cruiser that boasts a Burma-teak interior, aft master cabin centerline double, en-suite head/shower stall. Very well designed custom bimini with integrated arch not only includes strong dinghy davits and a full canvas enclosure, but also serves as a sleek mount for 3 solar panels that will run refrigeration, lights and other equipment on the hook/mooring. Hinged swim platform is the boats "party trick" that receives positive comments from all who see it (also includes scuba dive ladder) and eases dinghy entry/exit. With it's large, comfortable, bright cabin, the PS 40 definitely doesn't have the traditional "cave" feeling, making a rainy cruise or long term liveaboard... more liveable. Bestevaer is ready to go and will reward it's new owners with comfortable, fast passage making.

Like most of us at East Coast Yacht Sales, Kristofer has a passion for sailing and the ocean. He spent time as a kid sailing dinghies and cruising the coast of Maine with his family. Kristofer was born in Norway, his father's home country, but moved to Maine at a young age, where his mother is from. Growing up in Brunswick Maine, he spent his summers working at various yacht clubs, boat yards and marinas and spent winters ski racing for Carrabassett Valley Academy.Â
After graduating from Colorado College in 2000, Kris went to work for Hinckley Yachts. Soon after, Kris restored a 1973 Pearson 36 and sailed down to the Caribbean where he lived aboard and worked in the marina and charter boat industry.
Upon returning to Maine, Kris earned an MBA degree and worked for Harbor Technologies, a startup company in the marine composites industry, while also teaching composite boat building courses at the Maine Advanced Technology Center. In 2012 he had the opportunity to buy Buck's Harbor Marine, a small marina and charter boat business in Brooksville, Maine, which he owned and operated for several years.
In 2021 Kris moved from Blue Hill to Yarmouth, along with his wife and their three children, to join the East Coast Yacht Sales team. He is enthusiastic about all kinds of boats and enjoys helping clients find their perfect boat.
