Description
RITA MARGARET is hull no. 100 of the legendary DYER 29, and received a total restoration in 2004-2005 by the Landing School in Arundel, Maine. The objective was to make the boat the outstanding example of one of the best power boat designs of the last 50 years. This boat was restored to like new condition in 2005 with all systems, controls, hose, fixtures, tanks, valves, pumps, all electrical components, wiring and switches, hatches and fittings replaced in 2005.
It is not a stretch to say this was virtually a new boat in 2005.
Additionally, a new Mercruiser 300 hp gas engine, exhaust system and 2 new stainless fuel tanks, including all hoses and fittings, and Fireboy fire suppression system were installed in 2012.
The Dyer 29 is a legendary boat, often referred to as the "Original Picnic Boat" and claims the right of the longest running production model in the history of US boatbuilding. Much of the lasting popularity is due to her good looks and timeless hull form combined with a large open cockpit.
The lobster style semi-displacement design allows a smooth ride from slow harbor speeds to 20 plus knots. The fine bow with its sharp entry allows the boat to cut through chop effortlessly. The round chine and narrow stern makes her controllable in a following sea. The Dyer 29 is know for its sea kindly behavior and is considered a true blue water boat. A classic little yacht well suited for family day boating or cruising, as well as offshore fishing.
